Common Signs and Symptoms in MRCP PACES
·
We have listed here the common symptoms and signs that come up
in the MRCP PACES
·
This has been referenced to the appropriate page in
ACES for PACES for revision
·
This is intended to guide revision by emphasising
the common features
·
These lists are for guidance only and are not intended to be
comprehensive
·
These are the common features and those that are more likely to
come up in the exam
·
However, one must remember that other clinical features may also
occur in patients who appear in the exam.
·
They may be less common but one must remember that the features
listed are those that have been reported back by candidates.
·
Other features may have been missed by candidates
especially if they have used the wrong method of looking for clinical
features
·
For example a patient who has a flapping tremor due to carbon
dioxide narcosis is also likely to have chemosis
·
But this would have been missed by candidates who used the wrong
technique and hence would not be reported back
·
A lot of candidates use the wrong technique of learning a
list of clinical features that may occur and looking for them in the patient
·
This is incorrect
·
The correct method is to assess structure and function and
look for variations in structure and function that point to underlying
disease processes ACES for PACES chapter 5
