EMQS (EMQ)
Extended matching questions are commonly used in
examinations; medical school examinations, medical finals (MBBS, MBChB) and
licensing examinations such as PLAB and USMLE
Extended matching questions (EMQS) have a short clinical
scenario (clinical vignette) to which one should match one of the options
listed. When answering these questions it is essential to have a good clinical
background and method. The pragmatic approach adopted by the advanced
clinical evaluation system (ACES for PACES)
is ideally suited for this type of quick analysis
In addition EMQS test analysis of symptoms and signs and
to answer this type of question it is essential to have a broad knowledge of
the causes of various symptoms and signs. This knowledge may be obtained from
the extensive analysis and lists provided in ACES for
PACES
